Organic Peppermint Leaf Recalled Nationally Over Metal Contamination Risk

A national recall has been issued today for a certified organic peppermint leaf product after metal contamination was found, with the affected stock sold in independent food retailers and online across six states.

What Happened

Food Standards Australia New Zealand published a recall alert on 9 September 2026 for Greenstorm Foods, trading as Austral Herbs, over its Certified Organic Premium Peppermint Leaf (Mentha piperita), sold in 250g, 1kg, 5kg and 10kg pack sizes.

Why It Matters

The recall is due to the presence of foreign matter, specifically metal, in the product. Metal contamination in a food product carries a real risk of illness or injury if consumed, and this is a genuinely current, same-day recall rather than an older notice.

Who Is Affected

Households that bought Austral Herbs Certified Organic Premium Peppermint Leaf from independent food retailers or online, in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia or Western Australia.

What to Do / What to Watch

Do not consume this product. Check your pantry for any pack of Austral Herbs Certified Organic Premium Peppermint Leaf and return it to your place of purchase for a full refund. For questions, Austral Herbs can be contacted on (02) 4313 1664 or by email at contactus@australherbs.com.au.
