According to the 2021 Census, Brisbane’s local government area had a population of 1,242,825, Logan had 345,098, and Ipswich had 229,208. Brisbane is Queensland’s capital city local government area and, by land area, one of the larger local government areas of any Australian capital city. Ipswich is the second-oldest local government area in Queensland, after Brisbane.
Separate councils, separate systems
Each council runs its own rates and payment system, its own planning scheme, and its own zoning and overlay mapping tools. These will vary property by property within each council area, not just between the three areas as a whole.
