Jaguar Land Rover Australia has recalled more than 23,000 Defender, Discovery and Range Rover vehicles over a fault that could stop a driver’s airbag deploying properly in a crash.
What Happened
The official Australian Government Vehicle Recalls register lists two related recall notices, REC-006642 and REC-006645, covering 23,113 Land Rover Defender, Discovery and Range Rover vehicles from the 2019 to 2026 model years. Both notices remain listed as active on the official register.
Why It Matters
The fault involves the driver’s airbag clock-spring connector, which can corrode over time. This increases circuit resistance in a way that risks the airbag failing to deploy as intended in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury or death to the driver.
Who Is Affected
Owners of 2019 to 2026 model year Land Rover Defender, Discovery and Range Rover vehicles. Jaguar Land Rover has stated it will contact affected owners in writing and ask them to book the recall work in with their nearest dealership.
What to Do / What to Watch
Check whether your vehicle is affected using your VIN on the official Vehicle Recalls register. If your vehicle is affected and you have not yet been contacted, call an authorised Jaguar Land Rover dealer directly to arrange the free repair rather than waiting for a letter to arrive.
