Cross River Rail construction continues to affect parts of Brisbane’s rail network through the second half of 2026, with one station closed for an extended period and periodic weekend and evening service changes on several lines.
What changed
Moorooka station has been closed since 2 March 2026 for Cross River Rail construction and accessibility upgrade works, with Translink advising the closure will continue until late 2027. On the Shorncliffe line, Cross River Rail testing has required temporary changes to some evening services during 2026, with trains not running between Northgate and Shorncliffe on specific days when testing is scheduled, generally from around 7:45pm until the last service of the night. Separately, Airtrain has scheduled rail replacement buses on the Gold Coast line between Bowen Hills and Banoon over the weekend of 29 to 31 August 2026 for track work.
Construction at Fairfield station is now substantially complete, with only minor finishing works continuing at that site.
